Lincolnshire coast caravans

Peeling caravan kitchen doors? You don't need a new kitchen.

I strip the peeling vinyl off, repair the MDF underneath and paint it properly. Same kitchen, looks like it's been replaced, and you don't pay for a refit.

How it works

  1. Send photos. WhatsApp, Facebook or the form. Tell me the park and roughly how many doors and drawers.
  2. Get a price. I quote from the photos, so there's no waiting in for a visit.
  3. I strip and repair. Heat, careful scraping and adhesive removal, then filling and sanding the MDF.
  4. Prime and paint. A high-adhesion primer like Zinsser 123+, then durable topcoats in the colour you pick.

Guide prices

Cupboard doorfrom £40
Drawer frontfrom £20
Full-size internal doorfrom £40 per side
Small caravan kitchentypically £400–£600

These are guides. The real price depends on how bad the peeling is and what's included, so I quote everything from photos.

Why DIY stripping usually goes wrong

Caravan doors are mostly MDF with a thin vinyl or paper wrap glued on. Pull the wrap off cold and it often takes the top layer of MDF with it, leaving a furry, torn surface that drinks paint and never looks smooth.

Painting straight over the wrap isn't much better. If the wrap's already lifting, the paint lifts with it, usually within months.

Doing it properly means warming the wrap so it comes away cleanly, getting every bit of old glue off, repairing any damage and priming with something that actually sticks. It's slow, fiddly work, and it's the bit that makes the finish last.

Questions people ask

Do I need to be there?

Not necessarily. Plenty of owners leave a key with the park office. We'll sort that out when we book.

How long does it take?

It depends on the size of the kitchen and the state of the wrap. I'll give you an idea when I quote.

Can you paint over the vinyl?

Not if it's peeling. It'll just come away again. Sound wrap can sometimes be prepped and painted, and I'll tell you honestly which yours is.

Can I choose any colour?

Pretty much. I use Farrow & Ball and other decent ranges, and I can colour-match existing units.

Do you cover my park?

I cover Skegness, Ingoldmells, Chapel St Leonards, Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea. Further afield, ask. If it makes sense on travel, I'll do it.

Will the park let you work on site?

Most parks have rules for contractors. Tell me which park you're on and I'll check what they need.

Send me a few photos

Snap the doors, the worst bit of peeling, and the whole kitchen. I'll come back with a price.
